Safety

Konin counts among one of the safest cities in Poland. In 1995, the "Safe City" programme was implemented, which is based on co-operation of local self-government with regional Police Headquarters.

Three years later it was decided to step up preventive actions aiming at improving security. The result has been the City Safety System introduced in the year 2000. The system functions based on the integrated actions of the Police, Fire Department, sanitary and veterinary inspections, building supervision and social care with the local self-government.

The system has brought some real advantages. Many innovative schemes have been implemented in the city. For instance, so-called "Safe zones" have been established within the CSS. Places, which are particularly vulnerable to crime, have been covered by intensified operational activities of the Police and Municipal Guards.

In order to achieve yet higher level of security and to minimize crime, the monitoring system has begun in the most important city locations. Eight most dangerous areas in the town have been identified jointly by the City Authorities and the Police. Now, they are under a round-the-clock supervision. The whole system is managed by the Konin City Guards in close co-ordination with the Police. A hot line between these two organizations guarantees immediate arrival of police patrols.
