The educational system in Konin is based on 11 elementary schools, 7 grammar-schools, 8 high schools, a Special Centre of School and Education, a Set of Schools for Chronically Sick Children at the Provincial Hospital, the Youth-Community Centre, the Inter-School Sports Centre, a Municipal Centre for Teachers’ Training, a Municipal Psychological-Pedagogical Consulting Office, School Dormitories No. 1 and the School-Youth Hostel. All mentioned institutions are led by the City of Konin. Among secondary schools there are: secondary schools of general education (5) (Liceum Ogólnokształcące), specialist secondary schools (4), technical schools (5) with a wide range of courses (renewable energy technician, mechanical, electrical, trade, etc.).
Moreover there are non-public schools; from grammar-schools to secondary schools and colleges.
For those who wish to increase their qualifications and acquire new knowledge there are opportunities from: Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa (Community College) College of Marketing and Management – and branches of Poznan Economic Academy, University of Nicolas Copernicus in Torun, with studies in marketing and management. The branch of Poznań Engineering College offers studies in information technology and mechanics. The College of Trade in Zgierz, educates future employees in trades and services. There are also branches of the Economy and Humanistic College in Lodz and the Theological Department of the University of Warsaw.
Established in 1998, Konin Community College began educating specialists in finance and management, regional economy and social work, and from the academic year of 2004/2005 also political science. Language studies are very popular among students. A high level of English and German knowledge, gives a guarantee for employment in the companies backed with foreign capital, a few dozen of which operate in Konin. Moreover, Konin Community College systematically extends its educational offer with technical and nursing studies which are an additional chance of studies mainly for young inhabitants of our city and region.
