At first it came to life as National Dancing Competition. Over time singing joined and the contest was adapted to the present form of a song and dance festival (at first National). Since 1998 it has been called “the International”. For three years within the confines of the Festival a pan-European contest took place, covered by the representatives of television from all over Europe and the United States. In 2009 the festival had its jubilee: The International Children Song and Dance Festival celebrated its 30th anniversary. From the 26th edition the organizers have promoted influences and people from the world of art and culture which have left a significant mark on the world of children(e.g. H.Ch. Andersen, film music, etc). Vocalists and dancers (soloists, duet, groups) up to 16 years of age can participate in the contest. Participation in the gala-concert is preceded by a contest held during the festival. Contestants can be awarded with: Grand Prix, Gold, Silver and Bronze wards - in different age-groups and performing categories. Every year over 2 thousand participants from Poland and Europe participate. Almost 10 thousand spectators watch this amazing show live in the Amphitheatre „Na Skarpie”(“On the Slope”). On its stage, many current stars of Polish film and music made their debut, including: Krzysztof Antkowia, Marysia Sadowska, Patrycja Markowska, Alicja Bachleda - Córuś or Marina Łuczenko (from Buffo Theatre, „Dancing with the Stars”). Outstanding personalities of Polish entertainment (music, theatre, film) have cooperated with the Festival – e.g. Ewa Bem, Lora Szafran, Zbigniew Górny, Jacek Cygan, Krzysztof Jaślar, Jacek Skubikowski, Robert Rozmus, Urszula Dudziak.. The Festival is registered in the World Organization of Festivals FIDOF (which gathers 1000 similar organizations, 320 festivals in 72 countries). Thanks too many years’ patronage of Polish National Television and Polonia Television, The International Children Song and Dance Festival has been seen by viewers from all over Poland and the world. The organizers cooperate closely with the Polish Press Agency, national and regional media. This event has its own publishing (newspaper, guide-book, posters, invitations), promoting it within the country and abroad.
